FAN OF VIDEO GAMES
I have been a fan of video games for a long, long while. Ever since that faithful birthday way back in the day when my parents bought me the Nintendo Entertainment System, I have played video games rather frequently. The music of those first games sticks with me to this day. I know there are many people that to this day can still sing the entirety of the Super Mario theme music. I just recently heard about OverClocked Remix, which was founded almost ten years ago, and is an organization that is dedicated to “the appreciation, preservation, and interpretation of video game music.” I could not believe that such a thing existed! I thought it was really funny, but at the same time thought that it totally made sense. I know tons of people that still to this day talk about the games with the best music. Maybe I just have nerdy friends. One of my favorite bands, Umphrey’s McGee, has a very video game music sound, and I have often said they should score a video game. I know that I, for one, would be really excited to play that video game. I think that video game music is going to become a way for bands to market themselves.
